When it comes to fixing plastic angles in position, there are 3 obvious solutions:
> drill and screw – solid fit, removable if required but visible screw heads may affect overall appearance.
> contact adhesives – work well with rigid PVC but require practice to use neatly, difficult to judge amount needed to prevent it spilling out from angle when applied. Also, not suitable for clear plastic angle.
> self-adhesive tape – Potentially timely in application of tape to angle, but very quick and clean in their installation, ideal when time is limited onsite.
Whilst any of the 3 options above work well, the self-adhesive angle option is ideal in scenarios where speed of installation is key due to limited site access or working conditions are messy making clean application difficult.
When considering self-adhesive plastic angles, thought must be given to the fixing surface, ensuring it is suitable for long term adhesion. Tubeway have hopefully removed any doubt by testing the 3 types of adhesive types in a variety of settings and surfaces. The results can be viewed here Tape Results, Application, FAQs
Not only can Tubeway supply you the Angles and the self-adhesive tape, we can also apply them for you before despatch, potentially saving you both time and money when the goods arrive to you.
We’re able to do this on both stock packs and production runs of all our equal and unequal plastic angle.
So, you’ve decided Self Adhesive Angles are the right choice, you have 2 ways to get the goods to you:
Unless instructed otherwise, Tubeway will always apply the tape centred onto one or both internal faces, giving an even distribution. This prevents the tape from being visible at the edges and stops adhesion between strips if applied to both faces. It is also possible to apply tape to the outer surface of an angle should this be required.
When considering installation of the Self-adhesive angle we recommend watching the video for best practice tips. The tapes are instant grab, will quickly bond, so we recommend only peeling back an inch or two of the tape backing before push fitting against the surface in stages. Work your way down the entire length ensuring it is correctly placed, the tape will further set over the next 24 hours, providing a firm adhesion. You should avoid peeling off the entire liner from the tape and then attempting to place it, as this can result in the tape sticking in the wrong position.
Visit our Equal Plastic Angle or our Unequal Plastic Angle page to pick the size of angle (and colour) needed.
Should your requirement be for more than 500m+ contact our sales team today to discuss further.
Go to our Double Sided Tape page, selecting the size and type of tape you require. When considering the width of tape ensure you allow a few millimetres space either side as a margin of error, this prevents tape appearing from under the face or touching within the corner of the Angle if two lines are being used.
Remember that if applying Self-adhesive tape to both faces of an Angle, you will need two metres of Tape per metre of Angle. The online calculator within the product line is useful in calculating rolls needed based on an overall meterage. Order enough rolls to cover the requirement and specify if any leftover Tape is needed with the consignment.
We’ll help process your Self-adhesive angle requirement; there is a small labour charge for us to apply the Tape as this is done by hand, it is 15p per metre of Tape. Applying the tape can take time, especially on large orders, an approximate despatch date can be discussed when you place the order. Unless agreed otherwise, the Tape will be applied centered on the face of the Angle
Please note that Self-adhesive Tape Angles are bespoke products, they are therefore unsuitable for re-use or re-sale. As a consequence, these profiles would be non-returnable and non-refundable. If we supply Angles and Tape separately, these can be returned to us per our Terms and Conditions provided they are in the condition supplied.
